KiwiRail Scenic Journeys AK Cars – New Zealand

The AK carriages were built by KiwiRail in New Zealand specifically for three scenic tourist routes, one in the North Island and the other two in the South Island, including the spectacular Tranzalpine route. All three scenic routes take in the spectacular and unspoilt New Zealand countryside popularised by the “Lord of the Rings” movies.

The AK carriages were designed and built to a very high comfort standard and feature large panoramic windows and quarter lights in the roof to enable unrestricted views for passengers.

Noske-Kaeser Rail & Vehicle, developed, manufactured, and tested specially designed underfloor HVAC systems for these award-winning carriages.
